Driftless
Perfect Blue
PUT THIS IN YOUR DEN for dreamy shoegaze post-rock that will take you on a psychedelic sunny-day raft ride on perfect blue waters. Heavy yet tender, beautiful yet powerful - this album of dichotomies flows and blends like a river. This was one of our favorite albums of 2023 and we're so happy and proud to share it with our customers on glorious wax.

Driftless is an American three-piece post-rock/shoegaze band made up of members living in Oregon and Minnesota. Formed in 2015, the band created their first EP Still and quickly grew an online following. The band's signature sound of hypnotizing tapping guitar parts with soaring leads, unexpected drums that keep you on your toes, and captivating atmosphere set the foundation from which the band would continue to grow. Taking influence from a wide range of artists like Misery Signals, Pianos Become the Teeth, and Deafheaven, the band pushed their song writing further by writing a more technical and thoughtful follow-up album, The Greatest Need. In March of 2020 the band decided to release their follow up project on a whim as the timing felt right to put something positive out into the world.
The band began a new chapter in its musical evolution with the release of their third album Perfect Blue. With the introduction of singing on the project, the band (Grant Lillvis, Evan Partridge, and Tony Viegas) teamed up with Zach Zurn at Carpet Booth Studios and Will Yip at Studio 4 to bring the blend of shoegaze and post-rock to life. Perfect Blue’s title is a reflection of the album's ethereal and shimmering nature, similar to that of a lake under a blue sky.
